Baptism

Through the sacrament of Baptism we enter into the life of Grace, becoming a members of the Body of Christ, the Church.

"Go, therefore, make disciples of all nations, baptising them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit" (Matt 28:19)

Baptism Prepation Meeting

Parents who are seeking baptism for their child will be required to meet with the parish priest who will oversee the sacramental preparation. Please note, at least one of the parents must be Catholic. Enquiries should be addressed to the parish to arrange the meeting.

Date and Time

Baptisms are normally held on the last Sunday of the month at 12.00 noon. The date of Baptism will be organised at the Baptism preparation meeting.

Stole Fee

Whilst there is no charge for reception the sacraments it is customary to make an offering to help support the priest's living expenses. (As a guide most families give $50.00 - $100.00). The stole fee should be given to the Priest on the day of the Baptism.

Godparents

For each child you should nominate two Godparents (strictly one God Father, one God Mother). Godparents much be baptised and confirmed Catholics and over the age of 16 years. (One God-parent may suffice if you cannot find two).

Administration Fee

If you are a member of our parish and giving to the Thanksgiving campaign, there is no charge for the Baptism. However if you are not a contributing member of this parish whilst there is no charge for the baptism there will be a $50 administration fee, which is to be paid before the Baptism Preparation meeting.

This fee can be paid by cash, cheque or credit card over the phone. It cannot be paid on the day of the preparation meeting.

"Through Baptism grace is restored; we can ascend to heaven and regain our sonship. We can address God as Father with confidence, we can share in the grace of Christ, we can be called children of the light and sharers in eternal glory" (St Basil the Great, Treatise on the Holy Spirit)
